Aistir 2010 to be a summer event

Aidín Nic an Airchinnigh, as Reachtaire (chief administrator) of the Cumann Staire, announced that Aistir 2010 will take place over Bealtaine 25-28 May 2010 and is to be an official ISHA (International Students of History Association) event with participants from that pan-European organisation joining students from other universities around Ireland and Europe.
Additional social event added to Aistir timetable

An optional outing for Aistir participants will now takes place on the Sunday of the weekend, 22/03/09. That day at 14:30 the county iománaíocht / hurling team of Gaillimh will take on that of Luimneach in the national league. As this match takes place in the city and represents a fantastic opportunity for visitors to see such an ancient and exciting sport we hope that conference attendees can find the time to join the local students for the 'clash of the ash'!
Seminar group choices available online

The Aistir organising fo-choiste of the Cumann Staire has posted the ten seminar group choices for this year's conference on both Aistir.com and on the Aistir 2009 Facebook event page. Applicants to the conference who wish to partake in a seminar group are asked to email their three top choices to aistir2009@gmail.com. Those who wish to present a 20 minute paper are also asked to email their details and an abstract to the same address. Full details are on the Conference webpage of this site.
Conference application date and general theme announced

Applications for paper presentation and seminar group participation must be submitted by the 16 February to aistir2009@gmail.com This year's conference theme is Revolution. Those presenting papers are encouraged to link their topics to this general theme. The titles of the available seminar groups will appear here shortly.

Irish airline Ryanair is running a seat sale for ten euro, including all taxes and charges, until midnight 5th january. This sale covers flights to and from Ireland for the Aistir conference dates and should be snapped-up while available. Ryanair.ie
Aistir 2009 announced

The dates for the new format Aistir conference of 2009 were announced by the Cumann Staire today. The international student history conference will take place from Thursday 19th to Saturday 21st of March with a mixture of paper presentations and seminar-style group work. Another important change this year is the inclusion of accommodation and day meal costs within a flat conference fee. The Reachtaire of the Cumann Staire, Tadhg Ó Broin, explained that this should simplify and reduce the cost estimates of those attending Aistir from abroad. In light of this new approach the number of places available is limited to allow for budgeting of the conference costs in advance. Details of application dates for conference attendance and paper presentation will be announced in early 2009.
